Male Birthday

Well its the start of a new year, and for me that means I have a ton of male birthday cards to make.
This is the first
I used Ivory cardstock from Michaels, some burgandy cardstock from a cricut package, old olive cardstock from Stampinup and some Designer paper from My Mind's Eye -- Lost & Found3 pack.
I used my crimper on the old olive cardstock.
Ink I used was Cherry Cobbler from Stampin Up, and Walnut Stain distress ink.
The sentiment is from It's Your Birthday stamp set from Stampin Up, and the Cake is from Birthday Whimpsy again from Stampin Up.
The tag and brads I had in my stash from the dollarstore.

Happy New Year, 2014

I have never looked forward to the end of a year as much as I have for 2013. A series of events made it a very bad year for our family, both mentally and financially. As I started packing up the Christmas items in our home I looked at my tree skirt and my Santa that hangs on the door. I made these in 1998, after another bad year for us. I made these as I was going through Chemo and Radiation for Breast Cancer. So as I was packing them up I realized that although I made them at a bad time in my life, what came after them has been 16 years with my wonderful family, 16 years I wasn't expected to survive. What pulled us through 2013 was our family and our wonderful friends. Thanks to everyone, you mean so much to us.  I'm looking forward to a great 2014.

As the year winds down.....

I realize I did not reach my goal of 1 post per month.  I guess that will have to be my New Year's Resolution (again).

Here is a star I made for my neighbour, it is cut on the Cricut Expression, I used a piece of 12 x 12 cardstock and used the fit to page button.  I used white cardstock and after I cut and scored the star I spray painted it with silver glitter paint.  I cut 2 of them and attached them together at the tips of the star.  The star was form Art Philosophy.  I painted modge podge on the inside of each star to give it a bit more stability.

My favorite card this year

Here is my favorite Christmas card I made this year.  All supplies were Stampin Up.  We made this card at a workshop, I'm pretty sure the idea for the card came from Pintrest.

Christmas tags

I'm starting to pack my things up for Christmas, wrapping paper and gift bags.  I realized that when I open the bag next year I will not have any gift tags (I only open the bag when I have to start wrapping), so I made up a few to get me started.

I used Plantin Schoolbook for the tag and cut it at 4.5 inches.  I cut it once in a color and once in white, I then cut the white with my scissors to make it look like snow.  I ran the white through the cuttlebug using the swiss dot embossing folder, then inked the edges.  I used snow friends for the snowman, he is the last snowman on the cart, and is cut at 2.5 inches, I did not cut use the eyes, mouth, nose or buttons, I just drew them on with my copics.

I only used scraps when making these, it certainly would have gone faster using full sheets and cutting more than one at a time, but I keep on getting more scraps, it feels great to use them.

Enjoy.

SANTA CLAUS PARADE

December is a month for giving.  My office, Allstate, took part in the annual Santa Claus Parade here in our community.  We had a great time giving out candy canes, car scrappers, book marks and MADD ribbons.  Allstate is a proud sponsor of MADD, and we lead the charge on distracted driving as well.
From all of us at Allstate Insurance Barrhaven.  Happy Holidays.
